The Challenge:
Create and submit one marketing piece (choose from Website Banner, Postcard, or Display Ad) that is designed to promote YOU―the student―as the ideal candidate for the career of your choice in the graphics communications industry. Download GAERF 2012 Student Design Competition flyer
The Task:
- View the Skills and Careers Chart showing a variety of careers in Graphic Communications.
- Pick one career (based on your interests and aptitudes) listed in the Graphic Communications Skills and Careers Chart.
- Research and compile the facts about your chosen career:
- Job Title
- Job Description
- Job Responsibilities
- Training/Education Requirements
- Salary Range
- Create your ‘campaign!’ It’s all about YOU! Based on your research, craft a personal message that will identify YOU as the ideal candidate for the position in your selected career.
- Design a postcard, display ad, or website banner that promotes YOU in your chosen career—your talents, skills and education—that illustrate you as the ideal candidate to potential employers.
TIP 1: Outdistance the competition by making YOUR personal message impressive, convincing, compelling and saleable!
TIP 2: Visuals may include either YOUR photo or a stock photo of a ‘student.’
- Your Entry must conform to the specifications provided in the 2012 Student Design Competition templates. Postcard and display ad must be submitted as a PDF. Website banner can be in .jpg, .gif, or .png format.
