In 2006, the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation awarded the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, Rochester, NY a three-year grant to promote Graphic Communications as a viable career path for deaf/hard-of-hearing students, increase post-secondary retention of deaf students in the industry, and provide an as yet untapped resource for the Graphic Communications industry. This goal was primarily accomplished through the development of an interactive website geared to the deaf population.
