In 2006, the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation awarded the National Technical Institute for the Deaf a three-year grant to promote graphic communications as a viable career path for deaf/hard-of-hearing students, increase postsecondary retention of deaf students in the field, and provide an as yet untapped resource for the graphic communications field.
